werewolf tribal fetish - wolf by DonSimpson werewolf tribal fetish - wolf by DonSimpson
Made from a Bone Clone (tm) cast resin wolf skull replica. I textured, carved, and stained it, added bone disks strung on rough hemp twine, and inset an oval of dark mother of pearl.
This is part of a set of "ancient werewolf tribal ceremonial items" I was commissioned to make for a live action roleplaying game group.

Well, I don't do two exactly alike of anything (and some things I've made, I haven't done anything else remotely like), and I can't guarantee that a specific thing I make will turn out awesome. The dire wolf resin skull from Bone Clones [link] is currently around $200, and carving likely would currently run about the same, depending on carving details and how well it turns out. Plus shipping and handling from Bone Clones and from me.

I can't afford to make one of these for myself; so they go out, and I put up a photo in my gallery....

The Bone Clone [link] replicas are very well done, and I enjoyed doing this series of commissioned skull carvings (and stainings, etc.). Glad you like it. :) For real skulls, you might check with ~Zhon

Very unique, I love the design. What tools were used to carve it?

I use a mix of power and hand tools. For this skull I roughed out the design with some Dremel high speed steel bits in a Foredom flex-shaft machine. Adjustments were done with an engravers burin and assorted little knife, rasp, and file tools, sandpaper, and burnishers.

Resin carves entirely differently from real bone. This particular resin is neither so hard and brittle that it chips a lot (like some casting resins I've worked with), nor so soft that it gums up drills and bits (like styrene does if carved too fast or with dull tools).
