Description

This is a pendant and mini-rattle made from a bit of salvaged teakwood. About three inches long. Hand-rubbed microcrystalline wax finish.

The long part has a wedge-shaped cross-section and tapers to a line in the plane of the back of the piece. The back was smoothed, the interior hollowed out into a chamber, and several holes drilled. Three black onyx beads were inserted from the back and sealed in with glass microbeads and then a mixture of wood dust and glue. A couple of brass-tube cord tunnels were run across the interior chamber and sealed to the wood, several tiny glass balls were put loose into the chamber, and the back sealed with a thin walnut-wood sounding board (the seven tiny holes do not connect to the interior). It can be worn with the pointy end up, down, or sideways; if you shake it, it makes a nice sound.
