The carving is so delicate and works so well with the shape and size of the skull. Wow.

Yes. I do all my own carving. (Not counting the beads, which I bought in several different places.)

I generally study a skull for several weeks (off and on, not continuously :) ) to figure what might work with it.

Your studies pay off then!
Where/how do you come by your skulls, if you don't mind my asking?

I got into carving skulls when a friend gave me a coyote skull that had washed out of a clay bank out in the country. Another friend saw that carving and found some more skulls for me on eBay. I then got some from a wonderful local store called The Bone Room [link] And I bought some from Zhon [link] a DA member who does taxidermy (I haven't gotten around to carving those yet, still studying). The resin castings of skulls were provided by the people commissioning the work, but were mostly from a company called Bone Clones - [link] - and are somewhat expensive. Thinking of trying it? If you do, don't breath the dust; wear a good respirator and have good ventilation.
